Legal Aid Agency - Civil news: amendments to domestic violence evidence guidance

Changes to guidance effective from 25 April 2016.

Version 7 of the Evidence requirements for private family law matters guidance (April 2016) is now available on the legal aid pages of GOV.UK.

The guidance has been amended to reflect changes being introduced to regulation 33 of the Civil Legal Aid (Procedure) Regulations 2012 (as amended).

The key changes are:

  • time period of evidence of domestic violence
  • evidence of financial abuse

These interim regulations were laid before Parliament on 21 April 2016 and will take effect on 25 April 2016.
