London’s transport prepares for Pride

Pride in London - one of the largest Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGBT+) festivals in the world - takes place in the Capital this Saturday.

London's rainbow zebra crossing will make a colourful return at this year's event. It will be outside the London Transport Museum on Covent Garden Piazza from 10:00 where it will take pride of place for the whole weekend, giving people plenty of time to take that all important selfie.

We celebrate Pride every year and have a number of rainbow-themed vehicles to support the LGBT+ community. Our New Routemaster rainbow bus will be taking a break from service (it usually runs on route 8 between Bow Church and Tottenham Court Road) to join the fun, and our rainbow black cab along with owner Ian Beetlestone will also be at the parade.

Earlier this week, we unveiled a rainbow DLR train in honour of the festival, which will run on the Canary Wharf to Stratford route until later this year.

Chair of TfL's LGBT+ staff network group Martyn Loukes BEM said: 'This is a massive year for us as we're bringing both the rainbow bus and taxi to the parade, the first time they have been together - with around 120 staff and their friends and families joining them. Cheer us on and #RidewithPride.'

The parade starts at 1pm from Baker Street and finishes at Trafalgar Square.
