Lord-Lieutenant for Hampshire: Nigel Atkinson

The Queen has approved the appointment of Mr Nigel Atkinson as Lord-Lieutenant for Hampshire. 

The Queen has been pleased to appoint Mr Nigel Atkinson as Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for Hampshire to succeed Dame Mary Fagan when she retires on 11 September 2014.

Biographical Notes

Nigel Atkinson (60) has been the much respected Vice-Lord-Lieutenant for Hampshire for a number of years. He served in the Royal Green Jackets before pursuing a business career which included being Chief Executive of Gales Brewery and latterly has held a portfolio of Non-Executive appointments.

He has been the non-executive chairman of South East Enterprise Agencies and chairman of the Order of St John in Hampshire. He continues to serve as County Vice-President of the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Patron for the Rainbow Centre for Neurological Enablement, Trustee of Winchester Cathedral and Honorary Colonel of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Army Cadet Force.

Mr Atkinson lives near Petersfield with his wife, Christine and has 1 son and 2 daughters
