MMO seek public’s views on disposal options in South West

The MMO has asked for people to share their views regarding a potential new marine disposal site in the South West.

There is no statutory duty upon the MMO to consult the general public in this way but due to the interest in the area of Whitsand Bay the MMO want to gather as many views as possible.

The MMO will collect views from interested stakeholders and the public from 29 November 2016 until 23 December 2016. If people would like to make a representation about the potential new site details of how to do so are available on the MMO’s website.

MMO Chief Executive John Tuckett said:

We know that this issue involves considering and balancing a variety of views from the business, defence and scientific communities as well as from local residents.

We have identified an area of sea where disposal might take place in the future and we need to understand the views of all concerned to get the best possible outcome for all.

More information on disposal site options in the SW area can be found on the MMO’s selected cases page.
