Make your views heard: BIS apprenticeship levy consultation

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) is inviting views on proposals to implement an apprenticeships levy on employers.

BIS has opened its consultation on proposals to introduce an apprenticeship levy in 2017. The levy will enable employers to choose and pay for apprenticeship training.

We encourage employers, business organisations training organisations and anyone with an interest to submit views online, e-mail or by post, which will help to shape the introduction of the levy.

This consultation closes at 11:45pm on 2 October 2015.

More detail on the levy rate and scope will be provided later in the year.

Also being announced by the Prime Minister are plans to increase the number of quality apprenticeships across England – from nuclear engineers to tailors and butchers – and give businesses a say on how they are run and what they offer.

The Transport Secretary is also announcing an ambition to boost apprenticeships across the road and rail industry – pledging 30,000 apprenticeship places in the sector during the lifetime of this Parliament.
