Man pleads guilty to planning abuse of three-year-old

A man has been sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to a number of child sex abuse offences.

Allan Wright (41) from Surbiton was arrested by officers from the National Crime Agency’s CEOP Command in March 2014, after he was identified as using a website to contact women with possible access to children.

Officers carried out forensic digital analysis of Wright’s computers, and found chat logs containing explicit sexual messages. Wright had sent these to a person he believed had access to a three year old child. He was charged in July 2014 with seven offences, including arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence and making and distributing an indecent image of a child.

At trial in March 2015, Wright entered a guilty plea to three offences, which was accepted by the Judge. The other charges were left on file.

In 2011, Wright was convicted of making and possessing 36,000 indecent images of children and sentenced to 12 months in prison. He was also made the subject of a Sex Offender’s Prevention Order (SOPO), prohibiting his use of the internet.

Evidence at the time suggested his collection was amassed over a period of four years, demonstrating a long-running sexual interest in young girls. Upon his release from prison, Wright began accessing child abuse image websites again, breaching the restrictions of his SOPO.

Matt Long from the NCA’s CEOP Command said:

“Allan Wright is a prolific child sex offender. All the evidence suggests had he not been identified, he would have gone on to commit even more serious crimes than those he has been sentenced for today.

“Child sexual exploitation is a top threat area for the NCA and we will continue to identify and take action against those who seek to abuse children”.

Any adult who thinks they have a sexual interest in children and wants help can contact the Lucy Faithfull Foundation via their website  or by calling 0808 1000 900.

Wright was also made a subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) restricting his access to the internet and to children under the age of 16.
