Members appointed to the Advisory Council on National Records and Archives

We are pleased to announce that the Lord Chancellor and the Master of the Rolls have appointed the following members to the Advisory Council on National Records and Archives for a term of three years:

Professor Rodney Brazier MVO, Emeritus Professor of Constitutional Law, University of Manchester; Fellow of the Royal Historical Society

Hillary Bauer OBE, Former Head of International and Cultural Property Unit, Department for Culture, Media and Sport; Board member of the Ben Uri Gallery and Towner Gallery; and adviser on culture and heritage issues

John Evans, Communications and media consultant; former Head of Communications for the Olympic Delivery Authority, civil servant and BBC journalist; part-time postgraduate student at Birkbeck, University of London

Lesley Ferguson, Head of Collections, Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland

Dr William (Bill) Peace, Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the International Centre for Security Analysis, Kings College London; former Deputy Director for Strategy and Information at the Serious Organised Crime Agency

Sir John Ramsden Bt, former HM Ambassador to Croatia; former Head, Central and North West Europe Department, Foreign and Commonwealth Office

Michael Smyth CBE QC (Hon), Visiting Professor, Queen Mary College, University of London; Chairman, Community Links; former Head of Government Practice, Clifford Chance

Trevor Woolley CB, Former Director General, Ministry of Defence

Their knowledge and expertise is a valuable addition to the Advisory Council, and we welcome the range of experience on government, information management and archival issues they bring to its work.

The Lord Chancellor has also approved the reappointment of Ms Sarah Fahy and Mr Stephen Hawker to the Advisory Council, and of Dr Clive Cheesman, Dr Ian Mortimer and Dr Christopher Ridgway to the Forum on Historical Manuscripts and Academic Research for a further three years.
