Ministry of Justice policy fellowships

MOJ is establishing a fellowship, whose members will play a key role designing and delivering a number of key justice policies.

The Ministry of Justice (MOJ) is working on an exciting reform programme and we want the best people to help us reach our goals. We are establishing a policy fellowship scheme to widen our pool of people who contribute to making and delivering government policy.

As a Policy Fellow, you will bring a set of transferable skills developed within your ‘home’ sector or field to continue to drive these reforms. Your skills may have been honed in academia, local or national government, the not-for-profit or private sectors, or another area entirely. You may have worked in the UK or internationally. Irrespective of your specific career history, you will bring strong analytical skills, an ability to communicate clearly and with influence along with a desire to improve your own work and that of your colleagues.

These roles will be dynamic, varied, and fast-paced, enabling you to use your skills to the full. You will provide ‘hands-on’ support and constructive challenge to policy teams, helping them find innovative solutions to complex policy problems, and work closely with senior leaders and ministers as part of your high-profile position in MOJ.

We would like to hear from you if you can offer:

  • strong analytical skills and experience applying them to complex social challenges
  • an innovative approach to policy development or service delivery
  • a successful track record in leading organisational reform in any sector
  • commercial, performance management or research skills
  • practical experience in justice in the UK or abroad (this is not vital)

Roles

We have a range of roles suitable for where you are in your career, in different priority policy areas for MOJ. Your time as a fellow could range from spending a day a week in the department for 3 or 6 months, through to a full-time secondment of up to 18 months.
