Museums at Night is back for another year of after-hours celebrations

This year Museums at Night is back with close to 600 events taking place after dark in cultural destinations across the UK.

Supported by Arts Council England, Museums at Night is a chance to venture into museums, galleries and heritage sites across the country as they throw their doors open and invite people in to explore after hours.

Kicking off on Wednesday 13 MayCulture 24’s annual festival will continue until Saturday 16 May to tie in with the La Nuit Des Musées events over on the continent and International Museums Day on Monday 18 May.

This year, our director of museums, John Orna-Ornstein, will be heading to Museums at Night events in Bath, where he will experience the glowing installations at the Forest of Imagination, play the water organ at the city’s Roman Baths, and embark on a speed date style tour through the collection at Holburne Museum, while sharing what he sees on our Instagram.

Preparing for his after-hour visit, John said: “Museums at Night is a real gem in the UK’s cultural calendar and I’m really looking forward to heading to Bath to see what’s happening this year.

“By unlocking the doors to museums and heritage sites up and down the country after-dark, Museums at Night gives people the opportunity to experience our nation’s rich history and culture in a new way, seeing familiar and much-loved places in a different light or discovering venues they may not have known were right on their doorstep.”
