NCA Director Trevor Pearce retires from law enforcement

NCA Director Trevor Pearce announced yesterday that he is to retire from the National Crime Agency.

He has been appointed a Commissioner for the Gambling Commission by the Secretary of State for Department for Culture, Media and Sport.

Trevor has served in law enforcement for 40 years. His previous posts include Director General of the Serious Organised Crime Agency and Director General of the National Crime Squad. Most recently he has been the NCA’s Director of Special Investigations, leading Operation Stovewood,  an independent investigation into criminal allegations of non-familial child sexual exploitation in Rotherham.

Trevor will retain overall leadership of Operation Stovewood until June 2015 to oversee a smooth transition into the second phase of the investigation.

The NCA’s Director General Keith Bristow said: “It has been an enormous privilege to work with Trevor in the NCA. Trevor is an outstanding public servant with a long and distinguished career. He has contributed a huge amount to law enforcement and his expertise will be missed. I wish him well in his new role.”
