NHS Confederation announcement of Acute Care Collaboration Vanguard sites is another step in the right direction

The NHS Confederation says that the announcement by NHS England and Monitor about new ‘vanguard’ sites reflects welcome progress towards the better joined-up care called-for in the Five Year Forward View.

Phil McCarvill, deputy director of policy at the NHS Confederation, said:

“The launch of new vanguard sites is a steer in the right direction for the health service. Most are our members and all have already demonstrated a passion for better joined-up care, which means they are ideally suited to provide leadership and innovation on future healthcare collaborations.

“Improving how all parts of the health system work together was an important recommendation of the Five Year Forward View. Better collaboration will help the NHS become more sustainable and change the way it delivers care – including providing more services at home and greater care provision for older people and those with long-term health conditions. Today is a step in that direction.”
