NHS Confederation responds to the announcement of new NHS Innovation ‘Test Beds’
Rob Webster, CEO of the NHS Confederation, responded to the announcement of the Test Beds Programme.
“The best solution to the challenges facing the health and care system today is to radically change the way care is delivered for a significant number of patients. This bold set of plans, which harnesses the power of our members and the excellent work of our Academic Health Sciences Networks, is a step towards realising that ambition. The combination of local leadership, national collaboration and global expertise is a compelling one.
These Test Beds should be considered as examples of the large scale change that we will need to adopt in future. They play very strongly to the issues set out in the interim report of the Accelerated Access Review, sponsored by BIS and the Department of Health. As one of the champions of that review, I will be keen to see how this announcement informs and shapes the final report, ensuring we put the adoption and delivery of innovation at the heart of the NHS.”
