New Cyber Security Centre Showcases Best of British

Industry web “Exchange” will enable firms to collaborate and sell products & services.

An exciting new showcase for the world-renowned UK cyber security industry is being formally opened in central London, backed by a new web portal which supports & promotes UK firms. In the government- backed UK Cyber Demonstration Centre, companies will be able to demonstrate their capabilities to domestic and worldwide customers. Customers will also be able to find products and services via the new Cyber Growth Partnership (CGP) Exchange, a web portal incorporating a UK cyber map showing over 900 specialist firms.

Lord Maude, Minister for Trade and Investment in UKTI, and Ed Vaizey Minister for the Digital Economy in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, launched the two initiatives to promote the UK cyber security industry, which is worth £17bn and employs over 1000,000 people in the UK cyber security industry. Both initiatives were funded as part of the National Cyber Security Programme in Cabinet Office.

Lord Maude, Minister for Trade and Investment said:

"I am delighted that companies in the cyber sector have a facility to demonstrate products to foreign clients and partners. It is important that we can offer them not only this facility but also the advice and support they need to export their technology. The UK is a world leader in this sector and many countries around the world have significant requirements that UK companies can offer high quality solutions".

Ed Vaizey MP, Minister for Culture and the Digital Economy said recently:

"The UK has a thriving digital economy so it's crucial we have the tools to keep UK businesses and citizens safe online. The Government is investing £860m in the National Cyber Security Programme and the Cyber Growth Partnership is finding new ways to promote the UK cyber security industry. The new Cyber Centre and CGP Exchange being launched today will provide opportunities for our companies to promote their capabilities and sell their world-beating products at home and abroad, and contribute to UK growth and security."

Julian David, CEO techUK said recently:

"The CGP Cyber Exchange is a great example of what can be achieved when all parties work together. The hub demonstrates the strength and breadth of UK capability – we have over 800 companies across the country who can provide world class solutions to tackle the growing cyber security threat being faced around the world."

The UK Cyber Demonstration Centre was developed by UKTI, the Department for Culture Media and Sport and technology firm Raytheon UK as a facility to showcase the breadth, depth and quality of the UK offer on cyber security. The Government will host foreign delegations in the Centre to highlight the cutting edge research, products and services being developed in the UK. It can be used as a facility for UK cyber security companies wishing to demonstrate capability to potential clients.

The CGP Exchange is a brand new web portal providing a focal point for UK cyber firms and an overview of UK cyber security capability. It will list opportunities, articles and initiatives about the sector from government, industry and academia, all in one place, and provide a shop window for cyber security companies to sell their goods and services at home and abroad. The portal incorporates the UK Cyber Map, an interactive map of UK cyber security business searchable by company, technology and/or location. DCMS worked with industry body TechUK to develop the map, which will help potential customers find the products they need to secure their businesses.

The new Centre and CGP Exchange are important tools and promote the growth and development of the UK cyber security sector, bringing them closer to UK buyers and enhancing their opportunities to export overseas. Companies will be able to log in to site, update content and provide information on the services they offer.
