New Small Business Crown Representative Appointed

techUK comments on the appointment of Emma Jones MBE as the new Small Business Crown Representative.

In her new position working with Government departments and the Crown Commercial Service, Emma Jones will help smaller businesses in the UK bid for and win important Government contracts.

Commenting on the appointment, Naureen Khan, Director of Public Servicesat techUK said:

“We are delighted to see the appointment of Emma Jones as the new Crown Representative for SMEs. As the voice of over five hundred tech SMEs, we are committed to working with and supporting Government to open up the public sector tech market and reduce barriers to entry. Our 2015 SME survey showed that the Government is on the right track. SME's are overwhelmingly positive about the Government's new target, but there is more work to be done. Our report highlighted three clear barriers to small businesses, culture and capability, improving the experience of SMEs using the supply chain route to sell into the public sector and greater focus on the promotion of existing tools such as Mystery Shopper and Contracts Finder.

"We are working with the Crown Commercial Service to implement the recommendations in our SME report and I look forward to working with Emma in particular to help small and growing firms access the Government's billion pound public sector procurement market. The prize is a more diverse and vibrant supply base which delivers and supports the innovation public users need."
