New era for Local CIO Council

Socitm welcomes two new appointees to the Local CIO Council (LCIOC): Chair Dylan Roberts (CIO - Leeds City Council) and Vice-chair Noelle Godfrey (Programme Director - Connecting Cambridgeshire and Head of Digital Infrastructure - Cambridgeshire County Council).

Both approved by the Socitm Board and accepted by LCIOC, Dylan and Noelle had previously been effective and committed LCIOC topic leads at the national and local levels, while Dylan was already Vice-chair of LCIOC.

Asked about his new appointment, Dylan said: “I’m looking forward to helping the LCIOC to provide the digital leadership and help to enable public sector leaders to understand how digital can be applied to enable public service reform and deliver the key outcomes in localities.”

We would like to record our thanks to Jos Creese for his accomplished leadership of LCIOC since its inception in 2006, and to wish him well in his future plans and as he assumes the presidency of BCS.

The first meeting of LCIOC under the new Chair was designed to review the focus and priorities for LCIOC over the next 12 months. The debate was stimulated by Charlotte Alldritt (RSA), who introduced the themes of variation, volatility and value in future models for public service delivery across localities. Eddie Copeland (Policy Exchange) presented the key recommendations from his recent report Small Pieces Loosely Joined. Notes of the meeting with some useful links can be found here.
