New ministerial appointments July 2016

Following Theresa May's appointment as Prime Minister, the Queen has been pleased to approve the following ministerial appointments:

  • Rt Hon David Lidington as Leader of the House of Commons and Lord President of the Council
  • Rt Hon Liz Truss MP as the first female Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice
  • Rt Hon Justine Greening MP as Secretary of State for Education and Minister for Women and Equalities
  • Rt Hon Patrick McLoughlin MP as Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster. Patrick has also been appointed as Conservative Party Chairman.
  • Rt Hon Chris Grayling MP as Secretary of State for Transport
  • Rt Hon Damian Green MP as Secretary of State for Work and Pensions
  • Andrea Leadsom MP as Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
  • Rt Hon Sajid Javid MP as Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government
  • James Brokenshire MP as Secretary of State for Northern Ireland
  • Karen Bradley MP as Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport
  • Rt Hon Alun Cairns MP will continue as Secretary of State for Wales
  • Priti Patel MP as Secretary of State for International Development
  • Rt Hon David Mundell MP will continue as Secretary of State for Scotland
  • Ben Gummer MP as Minister for the Cabinet Office
  • David Gauke MP as Chief Secretary to the Treasury
