Ofcom appointment to the Content Board

Ofcom has yesterday announced the appointment of a non-executive member to its Content Board.

Professor Philip Schlesinger has been appointed to the Content Board to represent the interests of the people of Scotland.

Philip has been a member of Ofcom’s Advisory Committee for Scotland since 2004 and its Chairman since 2009 – a role he will continue until the end of the year. His appointment to the Content Board begins on 1 December 2014 for a period of three years.

Professor Schlesinger is Professor in Cultural Policy at the Centre for Cultural Policy Research at the University of Glasgow. He is also Visiting Professor in Media and Communications at the London School of Economics and Deputy Director of CREATe, the RCUK Centre for Copyright and New Business Models in the Creative Economy. Alongside academic research work funded by the Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC), Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the European Commission, he has led a range of consultancy and research projects.
