One month left to have your say on changes to local councils

The consultation on changes to local government in Wales is closing shortly. Public Services Minister, Leighton Andrews is urging anyone with an interest to give us their views.

The Welsh Government’s White Paper Reforming Local Government: Power to Local People sets out an ambitious vision for the future of local government in Wales.

People have until 28 April to respond to the White Paper which suggests reforms in how local councillors are elected, community rights, service performance and the roles and allowances of elected members and senior officers.

Leighton Andrews said:

“We are committed to developing strong and representative local government and it is important we have an open debate about its future in Wales.

“We want everyone’s views to be captured, so I would urge anyone with an interest to respond to our consultation before the 28 April.”

The consultation can be accessed via the Welsh Government website.
