Operational Pallial makes 21st arrest
Officers from the National Crime Agency yesterday (Tuesday June 17) arrested a 75-year-old man from the Wrexham area, on suspicion of indecent assault and gross indecency.
The arrest forms part of Operation Pallial, an investigation into recent allegations of historical sexual abuse in the care system in North Wales, which is led by NCA Director General Keith Bristow.
The offences are alleged to have taken place against a boy between 1972 and 1973, when he was aged 12-13 years old. The offences are alleged to have taken place in the Wrexham area.
The man has been taken to a local police station where he will be interviewed by NCA officers from Operation Pallial.
No further information about the arrest, or the specific nature of the offences being put to him, will be provided. An update will be issued when the man is charged, bailed or released from police custody following interview.
The arrest is the 21st conducted by members of Operation Pallial. To date, nine people have been charged with a large number of serious sexual offences.
