Overseas Travel and Tourism, Provisional Results for December 2015

Main points

  • Visits to the UK by overseas residents rose by 5% to 8.5 million in the period October 2015 to December 2015 compared with the same period a year earlier. £5.1 billion was spent on these visits.
     
  • UK residents made 13.4 million visits abroad in the 3 months to December 2015 compared with the same period a year earlier, an increase of 10%.
     
  • Expenditure on visits abroad by UK residents in the 3 months to December 2015 increased 9% to £7.6 billion compared with the previous year, in line with the increase in visits.
