PCCs' commission into the single counter-terrorism grant in the East Midlands

HMIC has published its report into the effectiveness and efficiency of the single counter-terrorism grant in the East Midlands region.

The East Midlands region police forces – Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire – established the East Midlands Special Operations Unit in 2002. Since 2011, this unit has been funded by a single grant.

HMIC were commissioned by the five police and crime commissioners (PCCs) from the East Midlands region to inspect the efficiency and effectiveness of these funding arrangements. The report found good evidence that the single counter-terrorism grant arrangement was a more efficient and effective use of public money than previous separate grant arrangements.
