Pearson VUE/learndirect’s CBT business merger inquiry cancelled

The CMA formally cancelled its inquiry into Pearson VUE’s anticipated acquisition of learndirect’s computer-based testing (CBT) business.

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) received assurances from Pearson VUE and learndirect Limited that the anticipated acquisition has been abandoned.

On 16 December 2015, the CMA referred Pearson Professional Assessments Limited’s - trading as Pearson VUE (Pearson VUE) - anticipated acquisition of the CBT business of learndirect for an in-depth phase 2 investigation. On the same day, Pearson VUE requested a 3-week suspension of the phase 2 investigation timetable.
