A peerage of the United Kingdom for Life is conferred on Sir Bob Kerslake.

The Queen has been pleased to confer a peerage of the United Kingdom for Life on Sir Bob Kerslake, upon his retirement as Permanent Secretary at the Department for Communities and Local Government and formerly as the Head of the Civil Service.

• Sir Bob Kerslake has previously held appointments including: Chief Executive of the Homes and Communities Agency (2008 to 2010), Chief Executive of Sheffield City Council (1997 to 2008) and Chief Executive of the London Borough of Hounslow (1991 to 1997). He was knighted in 2005 for services to Local Government.

• This nomination was vetted for propriety by the House of Lords Appointments Commission.

• The Prime Minister nominates direct to Her Majesty The Queen a limited number of candidates for Cross Bench peerages, based on their public service. The number of appointments covered under this arrangement is a maximum of 10 in any 1 Parliament.
