Pick up free bottled water this summer

Tube passengers at some of London's busiest stations are being handed free bottles of evian natural mineral water in a big summer giveaway.

We have teamed up with Danone Waters UK & Ireland Ltd once again to hand out supplies in order to emphasise the importance of customers carrying water when they travel. More than 250,000 bottles will be distributed over the coming months.

The initiative is part of our Carry Water and Travel Better London campaign, which aims to raise awareness of how passengers can help to reduce delays and improve the environment for themselves and fellow travellers by making small changes to their travel habits. It is the second summer that free bottled water from Danone has been distributed across the Tube network. It supports our ongoing efforts to cool the network and make travel more comfortable.

Other 'Cooling the Tube' measures include the introduction of air-conditioned trains on some lines and upgraded station ventilation.

Gareth Powell, Director of Strategy and Service Development, London Underground, said: 'We know travelling around London during the summer months can be uncomfortable. This is why we invest all of our income into improving the network.

Cooling the Tube is a big engineering challenge, but we're making significant steps forward and by the end of 2016, 40% of the Underground network will be served by air-conditioned trains.'
