Proposed acquisition of Barnet and Chase Farm Hospitals NHS Trust

Monitor has considered the acquisition of Barnet and Chase Farm NHS Trust by the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. 

Monitor has provided the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust (the ‘Royal Free’) with a view on the risks of the transaction in accordance with itsRisk Assessment Framework.

Monitor is content for the acquisition to proceed and, should the acquisition go ahead, will work with the Royal Free to make sure that the required improvements to finances and patient services happen as expected.

The acquisition should help the Royal Free to provide sustainable, quality services for local patients and improve patient care through new clinical models
