  • The employment rate in Great Britain was highest in the South East (76.9%) and lowest in Wales (69.2%).
  • The unemployment rate in Great Britain was highest in the North East (9.6%) and lowest in the South East (4.4%).
  • The inactivity rate in Great Britain was highest in Wales (25.7%) and lowest in the East of England (19.3%).
  • The Claimant Count rate in Great Britain was highest in the North East (5.2%) and lowest in the South East (1.8%).

In September the Office for National Statistics (ONS) asked the Office for Statistics Regulation (OSR) to review its recent revisions to GDP. Today the review has been published, with Ed Humpherson, OSR Director General for Regulation, finding that '...ONS's approach to revisions is appropriate and well managed and our overall conclusion is that the more extreme criticisms that ONS received are misplaced.'
