Review of the Implementation of Consolidated Grants
In 2010 STFC conducted a review of its grant funding mechanism in order to improve STFC support for science exploitation in universities and other research groups. STFC accepted the recommendations of the review and introduced consolidated grants across its research communities.
With the transition of all research groups to consolidated grants complete, STFC reviewed the implementation of consolidated grants between January and May 2014. The Review Panel’s report, containing a number of recommendations, was considered and endorsed by Science Board at its meeting on 10-11 July 2014. The recommendations included a proposal to move all consolidated grants to a three-year, non-overlapping mechanism and a proposal that the Astronomy Grants Panel should be split into two distinct subject areas.
The Review Panel’s conclusions and the full list of recommendations can be found in the report. An implementation plan has been produced to take forward the review’s recommendations.
