RoSPA - Help workers get home safe at Occupational Road Safety Seminar

Advice and information on tackling occupational road risk will be shared at a free event hosted by The Scottish Occupational Road Safety Alliance (ScORSA).

The St Andrew’s Seminar will take place at Edinburgh’s Radisson Blu Hotel on Tuesday, November 25 to address the dangers of driving for work.

Health and safety professionals, road safety practitioners and those interested in keeping people safe while driving for work are being invited to the event to find out more about managing occupational road risk (MORR).

During the seminar, delegates will gain information, advice and support on MORR policies and standards, the operational advantages of MORR, telematics and driving for work.

Delegates will also get more of an insight into:

  • Driver health checks - mandatory and essential policies to keep the workforce healthy, legal and safe
  • Liability
  •  The face of road safety in Scotland - a guide to resources and responsibility
  • SQA Qualification - the benefits of the MORR module to your business.

ScORSA was created by a multi-partner working group initiated by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) to raise awareness of MORR, and the event has been designed to share good practice and resources to help workers come home safe.

Sandy Allan, RoSPA’s road safety manager for Scotland, said: “Unfortunately, more employees are killed in at-work road accidents than in all other occupational accidents combined.

“We are inviting anyone who has an interest in occupational road safety to come along to the seminar and take advantage of a tremendous networking opportunity. We will also be answering all their questions on the day.

“A third of road crashes involve someone who is driving for work purposes, which is why it makes good business sense to manage occupational road risk.”

The event is free to attend to anyone who registers. For further information and an application form, visit www.scottishroadsafety.com/training.html
