RoSPA SCOTLAND CONGRESS TO CELEBRATE HEALTH AND SAFETY ACHIEVEMENTS

Boosting health and safety performance to drive businesses forward will be the key theme at this year’s Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents’ (RoSPA) Scotland Congress.

The 20th Scotland Occupational Safety and Health Congress, will celebrate the innovation, partnership working and best practice behind the country’s health and safety achievements.

And there are limited places available for this year’s event – supported by The Scottish Centre for Healthy Working Lives- which will be held at the Hilton Glasgow, on Tuesday, September 16 - the day before the annual RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards ceremony.

To mark the 20th anniversary year, the congress, aimed at a range of stakeholders including senior management and HR professionals, will focus on achievements to date, while providing practical advice and a look at where lessons can be learned.

Karen McDonnell, head of RoSPA Scotland, said: “This year is a special anniversary year for the congress and to celebrate we will be honouring Scotland’s health and safety achievements.

“We will also inspire delegates to improve their health and safety performance by giving them an insight into what can be achieved in the health and safety field.

“Our sessions will not only offer valuable learning, but will allow professionals to draw inspiration from others as they continue to work towards their next health and safety goal.

“We are thrilled to once again be holding the safety and health congress to give people the opportunity to join in the debate on the future of health and safety.”

Sessions on the day will include talks on improving accident prevention and performance, managing occupational road risk and workplace transport.

There will also be discussions on how to manage asbestos as well as proposed changes to the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 and a panel debate session on improving work environments for all.

RoSPA is a charity that has been at the heart of accident prevention for nearly 100 years and a driving force behind improving safety and occupational health in organisations worldwide.
