SECURITY FIRM STAFF TAKE A CHARITY ‘TOUR’ TO RAISE FUNDS FOR RoSPA

Staff from a global security giant will use pedal power next month (September) to generate life-saving funds for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

More than 800 Securitas employees at 22 offices across the UK will be saddling up for the ‘Tour of Securitas’, which kicks off in Livingston on Monday, September 8.

The tour then wends its way across the UK, finishing at Securitas’ head office in Uxbridge on Friday, September 12.   Staff will clock up a total of 2,520 miles across the week on static bikes. The aim is for each branch to pedal the equivalent distance to the next office that is taking part in the five-day challenge.

RoSPA's Chief Executive, Tom Mullarkey MBE, said: "As the UK's family safety charity, we're determined to provide more and more free practical support to some of the nation's most vulnerable people. But we can only do this with the financial backing of enlightened companies like Securitas.

"Accident prevention saves lives and prevents injuries and there are few activities which cannot be done safely.

"We look forward to developing this relationship with Securitas so that, together, we can reverse a trend that sees accidents cut down more children, young people and young parents in their prime than cancer or heart disease."

Securitas’ Chief Operating Officer, Shaun Kennedy, said: “As an organisation that places safety at the heart of its business, we wanted to raise funds for a charity that has been working to save lives for nearly a century.

“With cycling very much in the news, we thought this challenge would be a timely way to raise funds for a fantastic cause, promote safety messages and stress the health benefits of exercise to our employees and their families. It will also launch our Cycle to Work Campaign.”
