Safety signs firm becomes first to support RoSPA's Brighter Beginnings Appeal

A signage and digital printing firm has become the first company to support RoSPA’s new Brighter Beginnings Appeal.

Stocksigns, based in Surrey, will be donating 20p to the family safety charity’s appeal for every sign sold until the end of March. Brighter Beginnings is raising money for parent packs filled with accident-prevention advice and resources to protect little ones in the most disadvantaged families.

Accidents are the biggest killer for those aged under 19, yet a RoSPA-commissioned survey found that nearly a third of parents (30 per cent) have never received or sought advice or information about keeping their child(ren) safe from accidents.

Danny Adamson, managing director for Stocksigns Group, which has been RoSPA’s safety sign partner for eight years, said: “As many know it’s difficult when you become a new parent. There are things we do every day that we have never considered dangerous. Health and safety is at the forefront of our business and it’s important that awareness is raised so we can lower the number of accidents.

“We are proud to be part of the Brighter Beginnings Appeal to provide help to those who need it.”

Brighter Beginnings is an appeal launched by RoSPA as the charity marks its 100th year, and needs partners to make it a success.

Rebecca Hickman, campaigns and fundraising manager at RoSPA, said: “We are extremely pleased to have our first corporate supporter for our Brighter Beginnings Appeal, and thank Stocksigns for its generosity.

“Accidental death and injury are a huge problem for under-5s, resulting in hundreds of thousands of needless visits to A&E departments across the country each year. Yet the solutions are relatively cheap and simple – by putting the knowledge and tools needed in the hands of parents, we can save them from the heartbreak accidents can cause, and save the NHS money in the process.”
