Scholarships for international students

Applications open for Scotland’s Saltire.

International students are invited to apply for funding to help study at one of Scotland’s universities.

The application process opened this week and Education Secretary Angela Constance encouraged prospective students from Canada, China, India, Pakistan and the United States of America to consider putting themselves forward.

Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning Angela Constance said:

“Studying abroad offers a wide variety of benefits to both the student and the university they have chosen to study at. Incoming students contribute culturally, socially and academically and allow staff and other students to learn about other cultures and perspectives.

“With each of the 100 scholarships available offering £4,000 towards fees for a year of undergraduate or postgraduate study they are an investment in helping talented students from other countries benefit from our world class universities and pioneering work in the creative industries, life sciences, technology and renewable and clean energy.”

The awards are jointly funded by the Scottish Government and the hosting university.

Saltire Scholarships are the Scottish Government’s flagship programme for encouraging international higher education students to study at our globally respected universities.

Online applications opened on 1 February and close 1 May 2016 for study in the 2016-17 academic year.
