For the third year running, GCHQ hosted a stand at the Big Bang UK Young Scientists and Engineering Fair, the UK’s biggest celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) for young people.

The students joined other members of staff on the stand at the NEC Birmingham to guide visitors through activities, to launch the GCHQ 'Bramble' (believed to be the world's largest Raspberry Pi cluster), as well as demonstrating the renowned GCHQ code-breaking app Cryptoy.

Also on display at the four-day event were the renowned GCHQ code-breaking app Cryptoy, a game demonstrating the concept of the Internet of Things and a visual quiz.

The event also saw the launch of the GCHQ ‘Bramble’, a cluster of Raspberry Pi computers designed to teach efficient and effective computer programming at scale. The Bramble, which is believed to be the world’s largest, attracted large numbers of visitors as it used its 66 computers to try to calculate the value of Pi.
