Scottish Government to launch major public information campaign
Plans ahead of referendum on Scotland's future.
Deputy First
Minister Nicola Sturgeon has announced that the Scottish Government is to
launch a major public information campaign ahead of the referendum on
Scotland’s future.
The campaign will involve Google adverts from next week onwards, to direct
people to the scotreferendum website – as well as online display
advertising to direct young people and women in particular to the site, so that
they know where to go for information and to get questions answered.
In addition, the Scottish Government plans to produce a short guide to
independence and the opportunities it will bring, which will be delivered to
every household in Scotland in the coming weeks.
Commenting, the Deputy First Minister said:
"The referendum on September 18th is the biggest democratic opportunity
Scotland has ever had.
We want people to be armed with the facts before they vote, which is why we are
stepping up our public information campaign in the coming weeks. This will
match the efforts of the UK Government in every way.
"We have already published Scotland’s Future, the most detailed
guide to a prospective independent country ever published. In the weeks ahead
we will build on that, with a combination of digital activity to provide
information, and a short version of Scotland’s Future.
“The booklet, which will be delivered to every home in Scotland, will
outline the huge opportunities an independent Scotland will bring for people,
families and communities.
"September 18th is the opportunity of a lifetime, and it is vital people
know all the facts and the opportunities that a vote for independence will
bring.”
