Services Producer Price Indices, Quarter 2 2014

Key Points

  • Estimated annual inflation in the UK service sector, as measured by the Services Producer Price Index (SPPI), continues to run at a relatively low level in quarter 2 of 2014.
  • The aggregate SPPI rose 1.6% in the year to quarter 2 of 2014, compared with a rise of 0.8% in the year to quarter 1 of 2014.
  • Between quarter 1 and quarter 2 of 2014 the aggregate SPPI rose 0.7%, compared with a fall of 0.4% last quarter.
  • Professional, Scientific & Technical Activities and Accommodation & Food made the greatest upward contributions to the annual rate of the service inflation.
