So much to see by Tube

London has a rich and varied heritage, and where better to learn about some of its history than around Tower Hill?

Hop on the Circle or District line, or sit at the front of the DLR and get off at Tower Hill for these great things to do:

HMS Belfast

Clamber on board and explore all nine decks of this museum ship. Grab the wheel and steer away from danger, be on the look out for enemies and scrub the decks for a full experience.

On the ship you can find out what life was like at war and at sea with fascinating stories of the Second World War and beyond. This is ideal for kids and those who love a good adventure.

All aboard

Take a short walk to Tower pier to board a river cruise or a river boat. A river cruise will take you to Greenwich for the Royal Observatory, London Eye Pier and Westminster.

The river bus lets you sail to Bankside for Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and Millbank for Tate Britain. Whichever trip you opt for, you're bound to love this fun way to travel.

Tower Bridge

While you're boating down the Thames, you may have noticed Tower Bridge. Built 120 years ago, Tower Bridge has become one of London's most iconic sites.

Visit the Tower Bridge experience to learn the history, walk over the glass floor, and gaze out at the panoramic views. You can also see the Victorian Engine Rooms which house beautiful steam engines that once powered the bridge lifts.

Tower of London

At the Tower of London you can view the Crown Jewels, take a Yeoman Warder tour and learn about the past 1,000 years in London. If you're still in the area in the evening, attend the Ceremony of the Keys.

Every night just before 20:00 a Yeoman Warder performs the nightly gate-closing ritual. In 700 years it has never been cancelled.

As the ceremony is very popular, it is best to book well in advance to avoid disappointment. Tickets are free and can be reserved up to a year in advance.

Design Museum

If design and creativity is your interest, make sure you spend some time at the Design Museum. Product, industrial, graphic, fashion and architectural design are showcased in a range of frequently changing exhibitions. Many visitors flock here just to see the architectural design of the toilets.
