Stay safe on the roads

This week young Londoners are being asked to 'look out for each other' as part of Road Safety Week.

Across the Capital, more than 1,000 TfL Youth Travel Ambassadors in 125 schools are talking with their classmates about the risks they face on the road and what they can do to stay safe.

The ambassadors address travel and transport behaviour, helping to promote safer, active and more responsible travel. Pupils are also being encouraged to write a road safety pledge on a piece of paper and post a 'selfie' on social media to help spread the message.

The pledges can be anything from 'look out at junctions' to 'take headphones out when crossing the road'.

One of TfL's top priorities is to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured by 40 per cent on London's roads by 2020.

During 2013, this number fell by 23 per cent to its lowest level since records began.
