Streetlink: 2016 Tech4Good Awards

Blog posted by: Helen Mathie, monday, 13 June 2016.

Vote for Streetlink and help connect more rough sleepers to the help they need.

We are delighted that Streetlink is a finalist in this year’s Tech4Good awards, which celebrate projects which use the power of computers and the Internet to make the world a better place. Streetlink is the national referral line and website for rough sleepers which Homeless Link manages in partnership with St Mungos.

Streetlink is one of four projects shortlisted in the 2016 Tech4Good Community Impact Award category. The Streetlink website, mobile app and 24/7 helpline enables the general public to connect rough sleepers to local services, linking them into the support in their area to help them leave the streets.

Since Streetlink launched in 2012, over 50,000 referrals have been made to local authorities and local services across England and Wales. Thousands of people have been helped in their journey away from the streets as a result, with over 3,000 directly being supported into accommodation.

Judges will announce the result of the Community Impact Award on 6th July 2016. But you can also help to promote the work of Streetlink by voting for the project in the Tech4Good People’s Choice Award.

Getting recognition for the service in this year’s awards will be vital to raise awareness among the public about rough sleeping and how everybody can help make a positive difference by making a referral if they see someone sleeping on our streets.
