Supersize sports centre opens in Chesterfield

An eight-lane swimming pool and a supersize gym are among the facilities at a new state-of-the-art sports centre that was officially opened yesterday.

Statistics show that the number of active people in Chesterfield is significantly below the national average. Now, residents can try a range of activities as we step-up efforts to get locals active.

Coronation Street star Kym Marsh, who plays Michelle Connor in the ITV soap, will lead a fitness class this Saturday at the Queens Park Sports Centre, which includes a £2 million investment from Sport England.
