Support London’s small businesses

Three station retail outlets have been named among Small Business Saturday's 'Small Biz 100.'

The independent companies, a juice bar at Canary Wharf Tube, a coffee stand at Victoria bus station and a ceramics studio in the railway arches at Hackney, are listed as part of the campaign to promote 100 businesses in the lead up to December 5 - Small Business Saturday.

On that day, people across the capital will be encouraged to visit and support the small businesses in their local community.

Last year around 16.5million people backed the Small Business Saturday campaign with it trending No 1 on Twitter and receiving around 3.5million views on its Facebook page.

TfL is a significant retail landlord in the capital and around 95% of the retailers across its network are independent companies.

Graeme Craig, TfL's Commercial Development Director, said "It is fantastic that three retailers on our network have made it onto the Small Biz 100."

Michelle Ovens, national campaign director of Small Business Saturday UK, said: "Although the campaign focuses on one day, the goal is to have a lasting impact on small businesses by changing mind-sets, so that people make it their mission to support small businesses all year round.

"Most people in this country either own a small business, work for a small business or know somebody
who does, so supporting a small business on Small Business Saturday is absolutely personal."

The three station retailers listed in Small Business Saturday's Small Biz 100 are:

Supernatural - which serves juices, smoothies, nut milks and health foods at Canary Wharf Tube station. They first trialled their juice bar as a pop-up at Old Street Tube station

Turning Earth Ceramics - an open-access ceramics studio that provides facilities for more than 200 potters every month from a Hackney railway arch near Kingsland Road

Etna Coffee - is a Sicilian street food business in Victoria bus station
