TUC: Government must act to stop the rise in prisoner officer assaults
Commenting after staff walked out of Wormwood Scrubs prison due to concerns over health and safety, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:
“Staff working in prisons must feel safe at work.
“The government urgently needs to get to grips with the rise in prison officer assaults, which rose by 30 per cent last year.
“Tackling violence and the increased supply of drugs and weapons must be a priority for policymakers.”
