TUC - Unionlearn highlights great GCSE results for young people & adult learners

Commenting on GCSE results released today (Thursday), Director of unionlearn Liz Rees said, “Today’s results are a testament to the hard work of our young people and their teachers, and to the commitment of adult learners gaining GCSEs for the first time.

“It is fantastic to see so many adults who – with the support of their unions – are returning to learning and getting valuable qualifications.

“But as the OECD has highlighted, millions of adults in the UK are a long way off even achieving a GCSE standard in core skill areas like English, Maths and ICT.

“Unions have a strong track record in supporting adults with learning in the workplace. Last year nearly 220,000 workers – including 55,000 doing English, Maths and ICT courses – were helped into learning or training through union-led projects supported by unionlearn.”
