TUC calls on government and business to implement new race report recommendations

The government has today (Tuesday) published the McGregor-Smith Review, which looks at obstacles faced by Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) people trying to progress at work.

TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:

“This report gives welcome guidance to businesses who want to unlock the talent of their black and minority ethnic workers. Unions stand ready to assist.

“But without government action, racist discrimination at work won’t simply disappear. Ministers must act on the report’s recommendations, including requiring companies with over 50 employees to publish data on race and pay.

“Racism and discrimination at work won’t be eliminated by talk – it’s time for business and the government to act.”
