TUC welcomes end to zero-hours contracts at Wetherspoons

TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady, commented on reports yesterday (Sunday) that the Wetherspoons pub chain is to replace zero-hours contracts with contracts that provide guaranteed minimum hours of work,

“This would be great news for workers at Wetherspoons. Guaranteeing staff minimum hours is much better than leaving them unsure about how much work they will have from one day to the next.

“We hope that other employers follow suit. The success of the Wetherspoons trial proves that businesses can be successful without zero-hours contracts.”
