Talent Action Plan will only be achieved by co-operating with unions, says FDA

The FDA broadly welcomes the launch of the refreshed Talent Action Plan: Champion Difference , which is aimed at increasing diversity within the civil service and commits to make its culture more conducive to helping all staff achieving their potential.

At its launch last year Sir Simon Fraser, Civil Service Diversity Champion, said that "this will only work if we work together, challenge ourselves and each other". However, the FDA regrets that the Plan was drafted without full consultation with the unions.

The FDA's Equality Officer Roland Zollner said:

"The aims of the Talent Action Plan will only be achieved with collaboration between the Government and the unions that represent its employees. The FDA will continue to challenge the civil service and the Government to work together to help improve the culture within the civil service and address the imbalances for underrepresented groups in the areas of recruitment and promotion.

"For our part the FDA already offers courses for underrepresented groups through FDALearn, however this can only bear fruit if the Government is fully committed to changing the culture within the civil service."
