The right to switch water supplier to be considered at water watchdog’s northern meeting

The introduction of competition in the supply of water services to business customers will be the main item under consideration at the next meeting of the Consumer Council for Water’s Northern Committee on Thursday, October 16.

The watchdog will be joined by senior representatives of the water companies who provide services to customers across the north of England at the meeting at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Granary Wharf, Leeds from 10am.

Customers who attend will hear more about the plans to enable all non-household customers to switch their water service supplier from 2017. The water companies will also be providing an update on their performance in delivering services to customers during 2014.

Andrea Cook, chair of CCWater’s Northern Committee, said: “These meetings are a good opportunity for customers in our region to find out how their water company is performing.

“This meeting will be of particular interest to the many business customers who will soon have the opportunity to shop around for their water supplier for the first time.”

Water customers will also have the opportunity to raise any issues of interest or concerns they might have during a listening session at the beginning of the meeting.
