Third series of Da Vinci’s Demons to start filming in Wales this month

Economy Minister, Edwina Hart, has announced that the third series of Da Vinci’s Demons will start filming in Wales later this month.

Speaking at the UK premiere of the final episode of season two at the National Museum of Wales, Cardiff Mrs Hart said it was another boost for the creative industries sector in Wales and production of the 10-episode series would bring many benefits.

She said:

“It is great news that a third series of Da Vinci’s Demons will be filmed in Wales. Production will begin on 23rd June, and this will lead to further investment and opportunities for our creative industries sector. The benefits to local businesses, people and the wider Welsh economy so far have been considerable. As well as the money spent locally during the previous productions, the team have also helped develop the next generation of talent by working with schools, colleges and other partners to deliver training and work experience opportunities.

“This included the Adjacent Education Programme, which provided over 100 work placements for students and graduates and the Welsh Government-funded Location Manager trainee programme, through which two young people were able to work alongside the experienced Da Vinci’s crew and have since gone on to find work in the industry.”

Jane Tranter, Head of Adjacent Productions said:

"The international success of DA Vinci's Demons is due in no small part to the supremely talented production talent based in Wales helping us make a world class drama series for the international audience.

“The support given to Da Vinci’s Demons by the Welsh Government and local businesses has played a vital role in the show's continued success and I am thrilled that we are returning for a third series. Proof indeed that investment in talent is investment in the future.”
