Trailblazers find Cyber Essentials straightforward and valuable
Within days of the launch of Cyber Essentials, seven small companies have received the Cyber Essentials certificate through IASME.
The scheme, which helps organisations protect themselves
against common cyber threats, was launched by the Department for Business on 5
June. With an easy to follow and straightforward on-line self-assessment
process, the companies recommend others to take a look at the
scheme.
Certification under the Cyber Essentials scheme will be
required by government for all suppliers bidding for certain contracts. The
value of this certification for the government supply chain was one of the
reasons for early adoption of certification by one of the companies. The
company, which already held the Information Security Management standard
ISO27001, found that the certification process was of benefit to them:
"During the review we identified several areas where there was scope for
improvement in managing our existing security controls, which showed the value
of the scheme", they commented.
