WWF - #GiveAHandToWildlife to support the world’s most endangered species

WWF-UK launches a social media campaign encouraging the nation to #GiveAHandToWildlife in support of their favourite wild animals. The campaign invites the public to show their love for our planet’s amazing wildlife by sharing their animal hand art on social media.

The concept is part of WWF’s annual fundraising event ‘Wear it Wild’ taking place on Friday 27th May.

Since 1970, wildlife populations have fallen by half - and iconic species like tigers, elephants and rhinos could become extinct in our lifetimes. From 60-second doodles to elaborate painted portraits, the wild hand creations will put a colourful spotlight on the urgent need to protect these incredible and threatened animals.

To join in, individuals simply need to share their own animal hand art on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook using the hashtags#GiveAHandToWildlife and #WearItWild. WWF-UK will be sharing the most striking and imaginative designs, and featuring a gallery on the Wear It Wild website to inspire even more people to lend a hand.

On Friday 27th May the nation will dress as wild as they dare to help raise vital awareness and funds to help protect precious species. Last year thousands got involved to show their passion for wildlife, from businessmen and women donning leopard-print ties and scarfs, mums rocking 80’s animal prints on the school run and children sporting wild onesies. Money raised through donations for Wear it Wild will help support WWF’s work to tackle growing threats to the natural world and our precious wildlife.

Charlotte Bagg, Events Manager at WWF-UK said: “Wear It Wild is such a fun way for people to support the world’s wildlife - it’s the one day we can all unleash our inner wild side, and for a great cause. We can’t wait to see how people get creative for #GiveAHandToWildlife to celebrate their favourite animals. This year, Wear It Wild follows Endangered Species Day on 20th May, so there really is no better time to raise funds for the world’s threatened wildlife.”
