WWF Climate Change Specialist James Beard commented on the publication of the Environmental Audit Committee’s report The Airports Commission Report Follow-up: Carbon emissions, air quality and noise

“The Government has no plan for dealing with the carbon emissions from a new runway at Heathrow. In order to meet the UK’s emissions targets the Government must take up the opportunity to fix this in the forthcoming Emissions Reduction Plan.

“Without a credible plan for tackling aviation’s climate impacts, expanding airport capacity flies in the face of the UK’s commitments to tackling climate change.”
